Personal Identity Verification (PIV) is a standard defined by NIST SP 800-73 and adopted by Microsoft as a smart card framework for secure authentication and identity management.

PIV tools and drivers
Token2’s PIV implementation differs from standard PIV offerings. Notably, the PIN code system used for PIV (including the User PIN and PUK) enforces the same complexity requirements as our PIN+ FIDO2 firmware. Simple or easily guessable PINs such as 123456, 111111, or similar sequences are not allowed, ensuring a higher level of security for all PIV operations.
